Just in time for Christmas, or not-- A finished version of the WIP I posted awhile back! The Unix and Linux-tans getting ready for the holidays. ^^
It's a bit difficult to explain what's going on here... Linux-tan, SCO Unix-tan and Solaris-tan are decorating a Christmas tree, while Unix-sama watches. Unix-sama's comment about "finding tinsel distracting" refers to her love of simplicity... and disdain for just about all holidays-- Festivus excluded.
And of course, Slackware-tan is in full agreement with Unix-sama-- like she ever disagrees with her idol. ^.^
Meahwhile, Irix-tan puts on a festive light show in an attempt to draw some attention to herself, while Mac OSX Tiger-tan provides some music. Puppy Linux-tan just takes in the whole crazy scene quietly, while Bliss-tan (a benevolent virus-tan) tried to establish herself as the tree's topper. ^^
Now for the credits...thanks to ~C-quel for making the background laser lights SVG, and thanks to *redheadstock for the Christmas lights stock images.
Haha! The Unices are peeved that a Mac OSX-tan has crashed their party... think what their reaction would be to a Windows-tan? O.O
Though, now that you point it out, IRIX-tan and Neptune-tan do share a slight resemblance, no? (BTW, Neptune-tan is one of my favorite Windows-tans ^^).
At any rate, I can see you know your stuff when it comes to OS-tans. You have some nice OS-tan fanart posted in your gallery!
Well, thank you for sharing your artwork with us... I like your style, there's something quite unique about it. And I look forward to your OS-tan fanart! :3
(And I can see a hint of OSX-tan in some of your characters. ^^)
And don't worry, if you hang around, you'll be bound to hear all about the Unix-tans. Especially at my club's forum, which your welcome to come visit sometime. ^^
Fufu... well technically it was C-chan that drafted that laser light show concept last year. Pretty freakin' CPU-intensive,... so much so it actually caused a little property damage, no? ^___^;
*revives lynch mob idea*
Already said a lot about this picture in the Scrap version... will add that Bliss-chan and Puppy-chan are incredibly cute... maybe even too cute... like security-hazard and fire-safety hazard cute, since we'd all be too busy gazing lovingly at them and going "awwww" while all hell breaks loose around us. ^.^
Also agree with Katt-chan,... the new background loses the homey feel of the original but gains a great deal more wow factor and also encourages greater highlight of IRIX-sama's powers. ^___^
However, still not sold on the subtitle idea entirely, especially since fansubs frequently make use of subtitles placed in different positions. The uninitiated would definitely have a hard time associating "I concur" with Slack-chan. ^.^;
But I'm sure someone might have told you this before in an email. ^^
Thank you C-quel, and many thanks to C-chan for the laser light stock. It may be have been a huge sap on the resources, but it was worth it. ^^
The subtitles I was a bit uneasy about as well. I have never seen randomly placed subtitles; perhaps, in light of this discovery, I will move the subtitles.. or not... heh. ^^'
That is fantastic and absolutely gorgeous! Your biggest improvement in this picture is the super spectacular and brilliant lighting! The background is a lot simpler than that of the original but more effective! (I did like the original but I think this new one makes it easier to focus on the characters)
And I also see a cuteness boost in the revamped Linux-sama, Bliss-tan and Slackware-tan, though it's too bad that Arch Linux-tan and Tinfoil Hat Linux-tan were removed from the picture
And last but not least, I like how you reused the dialogue in the form of subtitles to give the picture an extremely high budget anime screencap look!
Thank you Kattlanna! I sorta decided that the original background was a bit too... cartoonish... I thought it distracted from the characters. So I opted for a rather generic gradient with some snowfall.
I wrestled with the notion of leaving ArchLinux-tan and THL-tan in the image... but I didn't do any work on them, and wasn't quite sure what they "brought to the table", so they were left out as well.
But I am glad I succeeded in making Slackware-tan, Linux-sama and Bliss-tan a bit cuter. ^^
now, why would a windows-tan celebrate christmas with unices?

thanks, but I haven't drawn any OS-tans lately... but some of my recent works look like what they look like because of the generic OSX tan.
thanks also for the watch by the way! I'll think of some OS-tan fanart to draw

my XFCE desktop looks like OSX
