Mac System 9-tan by BellaCielo Mac System 9-tan by BellaCielo
An Inkscape SVG file of Mac System 9-tan (aka Sonata-tan/-sensei); I was inspired to draw this when :iconkattlanna: informed me that October 23 was in fact System 9's tenth birthday. :D

(Funny, at one point when I was drawing this, Backwards Down the Number Line by Phish came on the radio... which is a song about Birthdays, or time-travel, or maybe both. Dunno, really.)

Anyhoo, I made a tutorial out of this drawing; please do check it out and then download this file, to get a better understanding of what goes into making a sketch in Inkscape.

You may use this image in your own works, but ONLY with my permission, proper credits, and a link back to my DA page.

To download, click the download button. Then click File > Save page > Save as SVG/XML only. Then you can open it in Inkscape.

fufu, you know now I don't even remember if you've ever drawn Sonata-sama before.... [I'm sure you have, so it's probably just me] ^^

Either way, the results here are very stunning for a quick drawing. Cute face, Barbie-like smile, big fluffy hair and pretty dress (albeit very spartan compared to your usual designs). Cowlick seems too small, but I take that was done to make her face easier to look at [in the tutorial]. ^-^

How'd you do the background, btw? It doesn't seem to be a filter and its too wild to be a Pattern Fill. Hopefully you didn't draw in all those circles, although you could clone a whole bunch of them and then use the clone tool settings to scatter them about like that. The Smudge tool also works on different paths now too, so you could also have a whole bunch of evenly-spaced circles, and then use the Smudge tool to scatter them about, resize them, rotate them and even change their colors. ^____^

...........well, I deserve to have my "duh!" moment every now and then. >.<

huh.... that's funny, I use the polka dot pattern all the time, but would you believe me it never quite registered in my mini piggy brain that the pattern was scattered like that? Am I losing it? You should probably stay as far back from me as possible in case it's contagious. ^_________________^;

Eeep,... that there be pre-OSC artwork, no? No wonder I don't remember it (although at some point I did scan your very old drawings). ^___^

Homeko'd much lately? ^^

Hmm, it's nearing the anneversary of my return to dA; methinks some scans of OLD artwork be in order (to provide a historical perspective of my evolution as an artist and person). ^^

I'm all for that. ^^b

Wow, it's been a year already, incredible.... I still remember the heck of a job it was to get the Christmas Scene drawn, but amazingly we got it done in time. ^___^
