OS2 on OSX

Description

By now you guys undoubtedly know how much I love old computers and OSes, including collecting and using them (especially for OSes). I've been trying to get OS/2-- the fabled tragic MS/IBM OS of yore-- up and running in VirtualBox on my Mac since December, finally did it with the generous help of a forum buddy over at OSC.

It was an epic installation; considering how long it was in the making, it might replace the time I installed Puppy Linux on a then ten-year-old PC as the most epic. :giggle: First we tried installing OS/2 from MSDOS 6.22, but that didn't work so I made a new VM, formatted the HD with a Windows 98 boot disk image and used some blank floppy images to make the OS/2 boot disks and I pretty much did the installation by myself from there. It appeared that all was lost at one point when it wouldn't boot; I was happy none the less however, since it was such a valuable experiences learning how older non-bootable CD OSes are installed. I gave up, but OS/2 decided to boot! Apparently, it just takes a really, really long time.

I already have Windows 1.0, 2.0, MSDOS 6.22 and OS/2 Warp 4. Now if I can get a hold of an Altair 8080 emulator and some Xenix floppies and a Bochs emulator I'll have the entire early Microsoft line running on my Mac. Which would be win, for some reason. :la:

This is a pretty good screenshot from almost a year ago. I had to spend a couple of days reinstalling OS/2 Warp 4 under Virtual PC, because somehow, I trashed the VHD and had to start over. :(

I post a screenshot of what it looks like when I (somehow) get done with my latest drawing.
