Clover's Confusion If you spend enough time around somebody, it's easy to start thinking like the person.
And if you spend enough time around something, it's easy to start thinking like it, too.
At least this was the reasoning that Clover applied to herself; people told her, frequently enough to cause her concern, that she wasn't quite human acting. That she was distant, over-analytical... mechanical, even. But was anything less to be expected from the daughter of Annette Lennart, the head of MIT's robotics program and a preeminent artificial intelligence programmer?
Surely, Clover reasoned, all that exposure to machines had imprinted some unusual character traits upon her-- for god's sake, one of her best friends in this world was an emotionally-unstable programmed entity known only by the acronym of ADA. Ada (Clover never, ever spelt it as an acronym-- that felt too impersonal and wo
Caren Explains The Universe "So, what do you want to know?" Caren sank into the camp chair easily, placing a foot on the edge of the firepit. I wanted to be as relaxed as her, but I was downright tense-- I nervously fidgeted in my seat as a million questions raced through my mind.

I asked her about it.
"Yeah, people always ask me about that... if

Her second thought was, 'why am I here?'
2014... it seemed so long ago. It wasn't as if she had trouble remembering the year well, because she could; it's just that she felt detached from it all. Every time she looked back, it was as if she was viewing memories from another person's past.
"Do you want me to talk with him?" her father emphatically announced, his keen green eyes peeking from behind his newspaper. "He didn't have any right to throw you out like that!"
Isra said nothing. She didn't even meet his gaze; she merely sat there quietly, drawing imaginary circles in her bowl of cereal with her spoon.
