Description

PR1MOS-tan and VOS-tan, personifications of a two strongly Multics-influenced OSes.

Considering my interest in all things Bostonian and Multics-related, these two characters have been surprisingly neglected. PR1MOS-tan's actually the older of the two, is a minicomputer OS-tan (hence the smaller stature) and meant to be dressed in a mix of 80s fashion and Multics-inspired finery (this hideously old picture provides an alright example, although as you can imagine a LOT of things have been changed since then). Has interesting barrier and spatial manipulation powers like Multics-tan, just on a smaller scale. Chatty. Carries most of what she owns in a small box that's way bigger on the inside. Technically homeless ever since her company went under, she probably rooms with VOS, like in a closet or something. She doesn't need much space. ("Multics in a Shoebox", and all that.)

VOS-tan is a little younger than PR1MOS. She bears a really strong physical resemblance to Multics-tan, with approximately none of her outgoingness or charisma. Dresses like the prettiest lady at the apocalyptic ball. Likes tactical corsets. Plans for everything, prepares for everything, is pretty much the worse person to pick a fight with ever, considering she's probably just as defensively-adept as her "mother". Considers herself Multics' TRUE HEIR and is still sour over Unix getting all the public attention on this front. Somehow the persistent target of jokes about being Multics' and SAGE's kid (at least by those in the know); the fact that her personality is closer to SAGE's than Multics' doesn't help at all. Sticks to herself; she's the last minicomputer-era OS-tan left in Maynard and probably likes it that way. (Damned DECs were always causing trouble anyway.)

Oddly these two have never been officially recognized as Multics' children, even though Unix-tan is and the Multics-Unix connection is quite a bit more tenuous than the connection between Multics and either of them. Not sure if I want to retcon this particular piece of OS-tan history or leave it ambiguous; after all, it would probably be just like Multics to refuse to differentiate between her biological and intellectual heirs, instead considering them all her children.
