So, I'm in Michigan again... and like the past three out of four years I've visited, I'm dog-effin'-sick.
You know, I think long ago, perhaps in a past life, I made a deal with the god of Michigan. Upon asking me to be a resident of his state, I acted in revolt.
"Never!" I must have exclaimed, "I will never be a part of your state! Give me someplace mountainous and rural and quiet to live!"
Being a merciful deity, he must have granted my wish, but with a wrathful caveat; "Fine, you can live someplace else... but you shall visit my land once and year, and when you do you shall be sick and generally miserable."
And in my hastiness, I must have accepted the offer.
At least this time I think I just have the common cold and hopefully not the flu... it's better than the first time I visited and had a terrible allergic reaction, or the last time when I was suffering from anemia... O.o
(Thankfully we didn't have to go through Detroit on the way to our relatives' house; we went through Ann Arbor instead, which is a blink-and-you'll-miss-it kinda town when compared to the Motor City. Plus it's the RL HQ of Dominoes Pizza, and the birthplace of the DHARMA initiative in Lost, so that makes it cool forever. )
So, I'm staying with a few relatives; I'm on the bottom of the relative-hierarchy, which means I don't even get a cot. I got to sleep on a pad on the ground last night, which wasn't as bad as it might sound; the relatives I'm staying with are uber-fastidious so I could probably EAT off of the floor. I got upgraded to an air-mattress, though, so if I stay long enough I just might get to sleep on the couch or something.

Who's still here?
I'm not dead but I've moved onto several other planes of internet existence (Discord, Tumblr, various vidya games). Does anyone use this site anymore?
Yearly Reminder of my Continued Lurkerdom
BET YOU THOUGHT I WAS DEAD, I'm not I've just been spending too much time on tumblr.
Is anyone still here? If so drop me a note, I miss my old DA friends. :(
I'm Still Alive
If just barely. This semester is kicking my butt and I'll be glad when it's over...
I'm still drawing too, but sporadically ... mostly Fallout stuff since that's my current obsession. I really should post them here at some point...
Hello Darkness, My Old Friend
Sorry for not really being active here at all lately, I've been absolutely overwhelmed the last couple of weeks with life stuff, mostly getting ready for the start of a new semester at a new school (transfers, fun) with a new major (computer science, because it seems the natural marriage of my interest in computers, problem solving and esoteric math and unnecessary suffering, though I've also considered just pursuing the last three and majoring in mathematics.)
I'm dreading the first few weeks 'cause I have multiple early morning math classes, and the data structures & algorithms class is using Java, for some reason. So now I have to un-

Ouch! That's unfortunate, and insulting that your relatives won't even give you a nice bed to sleep on, after all the suffering you endured on your yearly treks to Michigan! Only if they knew!
I've also been to Michigan- twice and both times my family had misfortune there!
My family went to two NASCAR races of the NEXTEL Cup Series there (at the Michigan International Speedway) and both times, one of the most disliked drivers won both races! Then both times we tried to leave the race track, the traffic was so horribly backed up that the normally one-hour drive from our hotel to the race track took 3-4 hours to get back to the hotel! The second time we were there, my dad unexpectedly had to get hospitalized in the morning!
But through some VERY good luck, the best-case scenario happened: He recovered and checked out of the hospital in just 2 hours and we all still made it to the race in time!
